About Marie Curie IAPP action

The Industry-Academia Partnerships and Pathways (IAPP) is an FP7 PEOPLE action, which aims at strengthening existing links and promoting the creation of new onesbetween public research centers (Academia) and private commercial organizations (Industry). The action supports the exchange of knowledge and expertise through inter-sector two-way secondments of research staff with different level of experience and the recruitment of experienced researchers with a highly specialized background from outside the partnership.

Project Summary

The project DEMETRA will develop technologies to enable green, silent and reliable mechanical power transmissions, by targeting the crucial subsystems (gears and bearing) for the efficiency noise, levels and durability of industrial machinery.

New methods will be developed for improved virtual prediction and optimization of the full system performance as a complete coupled dynamic system, as well as improved strategies to incorporate test data in the process.

research programme
One of the aims of the European Research Area (ERA) is increasing the efficiency of industrial products and processes, yet improving quality, in key fields of energy generation and usage. The DEMETRA project directly contributes to improve quality of mechanical transmissions, widespread across the whole machinery spectrum, thus offering a technology edge to support European Industry to strengthen its competitive position in growing and globalizing markets.
